Letter of Support and
Commitment, Area VI, Southern Nucleus
Dear Sister Aline Marie
and Council,
At our September meeting
of Area VI members from the Southern Region of Brazil, we read the
Congregational Statement regarding the September 11th
tragedy. We confirm and support the Congregation stance and are committed
to resist the urge to condemn entire nations and peoples. We will examine
our own motivations and attitudes towards peoples of different faiths and
cultures here in Brazil and around the world. In our dialogue and prayer
with one another we expressed our own deep concern for possible vengeful
retaliation. We are committed to be pro-active in promoting effective
non-violent solutions. We assume our responsibility to act for the
benefit of world order and peace. We will endeavor to do this by
supporting persons, movements, and actions of groups who support and
encourage tolerance and work for peace. We will join our efforts with the
efforts of groups such as these and the Congregational Justice Committee
to urge local, national and international leaders to invest in solutions
that will foster and not destroy human dignity and potential. We will be
pro-active in our support and work with groups whose vision and desire is
for dialogue and reconciliation.
Sincerely,
Sisters
Assembled in Meeting, Southern Region of Brazil
