Catholic Social Teaching and Spirituality of Justice Ministry

Father Dan Groody is an Assistant Professor of Theology and the Director of the Center for Latino Spirituality and Culture at the University of Notre Dame. He spent many years working in Latin America, particularly along the United States – Mexico border.

He is the author of various books and articles, including Border of Death, Valley of Life: An Immigrant Journey of the Heart and Spirit, and Globalization, Spirituality and Justice: Navigating the Path to Peace.

Dan has also produced award-winning films and documentaries, including Dying to Live: A Migrant’s Journey and One Border, One Body: Immigration and the Eucharist.

In addition to teaching courses on U.S. Latino Spirituality, Globalization, and Christian Spirituality and Social Justice, he lectures widely in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia.


Aline Marie Steuer's experience as an educator in Latin America during Brazil's military dictatorship sharpened her awareness of the roots of injustice and forged her commitment to nonviolent social change. 

For years, she has worked as a facilitator/resource person in Centro de Estudos Biblicos, a national ecumenical grassroots biblical movement helping Base Christian Communities become agents of their own future.

Aline Marie Steuer, CSC

Throughout her life, and especially as President of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, she has vigorously promoted justice awareness and action within the congregation. 

As a member of the Leadership Conference of women Religious (LCWR) Global Concerns Committee, Aline Marie helped rewrite their Systems Thinking Handbook. Currently she serves as the Sisters of the Holy Cross Area Coordinator for South America
